Date: 05/09
Location: Cynthiana, Kentucky (near Lexington)
Building size and style: Smaller rural farmhouse adjacent to river, rural area
Time of investigation: 8pm-2am
Base EMF Reading: < 0.5 (very low). Typical spikes at expected sources
(electronic devices, outlets, etc.).
Indoor Temperature: 70-74 Fahrenheit. Stable - house was well-insulated
throughout including window vicinities.
Psychic Impressions From Jill:
I can only
tell you what I felt there. I was more drawn to the land than the
house. I felt like a baby had either been stillborn or died shortly after birth in that
house.
I did NOT feel anything evil or bad in the house. I was physically poked in the back a few minutes after Mike
had that experience with his chair. I also felt the temp drop and the cold
spot.
I do not think that the current family is a target. I
think anybody that lives in the house may be prone to random incidents of the
paranormal
I also think that their youngest child is gifted psychically and she may
experience her spirit guide
around her at times. I do think that as a child they were laying leaves around
her as a form of protection, or just as a gift.
The father seemed like a
heck of a nice guy. The whole family was nice. I tried to answer their
questions as best as I could to try and give them some comfort. He is worried
about the girls, but I did not feel like they were in any harm.
The wife
said that she was pushed down the steps. I got the impression when she said
that that it was an old man that was mean spirited in life. I think they have
what I term reverent spirits that visit the house and some imprint energy. It's
an old house and close to the river, which I personally think water is a huge
conductor of psychic
energy.
I am not at all convinced that something or someone is sighing in the house. You can hear people talking in every room. We experienced somebody snoring, and heard other sounds.
I do believe that they can lay claim to their house and ask that the
disturbances stop.

Client stories and claims:
Location was being used as a rental property and current resident family
(multiple adults and children, all reporting experiences) had been experiencing
ongoing paranormal
activity since assuming occupation, and accounts from previous residents
were reported as well.
Visual experiences include shadow figures seen throughout the
house, male and female figures, and one of the children claimed that a woman
would visit her while she slept and bring her leaves from the river, which were
found on her bed. In addition, children had reported seeing a woman with a
burned face floating over their beds (possible correspondence to reported death
near the property).
Several recurring audio phenomena were reported as well,
including the sound of heavy breathing or a “sigh” that had been experienced
simultaneously by several family members. Also, a strange, human growling sound
had been heard on several occasions in the upstairs bedroom with the chimney.
Some minor tactile experiences were reported as well,
including one case of an adult female being pushed down the stairs shortly after
a previous paranormal group’s investigation.
No deaths were found documented to have occurred in the
house, though many Native American artifacts (arrowheads, etc) had been found
around the property, including bone matter that was possibly human. Client did
report the alleged death of a woman in the nearby collapsed guest house; the
woman had been badly burned in a tobacco fire and had survived a few days before
passing away due to her injuries.
Summary and Results:
Over the course of the evening, the investigative team did not witness any
significant visual phenomena. As a result, the team could neither verify nor
debunk any of the visual claims. Noted, however, is that several of the reported
experiences only occurred to the children while they were in bed, so phenomena
may have been dependant on that condition.
The team did come up with a
theory to potentially debunk the audio phenomena reported by the client. On the
2nd floor, the rooms below are clearly visible through the vents in
the floor, and sound travelled easily between floors and rooms. Over the course
of the investigation, conversations (even whispered) could be clearly made out
between floors. Thus, someone alone on the 2nd floor may have
plausibly heard an unexpected sound from the room below, and interpreted it as a
disembodied sigh, growl, etc. While this does not directly invalidate the
client’s claims, it does present an alternative explanation.
Roughly
halfway through the evening during an audio session in the 2nd floor
chimney bedroom (reported as the most active room in the house), an unseen force
violently struck the back of Lead Investigator Mike Palmer’s chair and was
witnessed by the entire investigative team. The force was heard as a loud
“crack”, and was strong enough to push Mike forward and be felt as a vibration
in the floor across the room. Shortly thereafter, a drop in temperature passed
through the room, reported by several investigators and verified via thermometer
on at least one. The team was unable to debunk either of these events. In
addition, multiple members of the team reported the fleeting scent of wood smoke
at several times during the investigation, including directly after the above
events.
